Avocado Toast

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 slices of whole-grain or sourdough bread
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lemon juice (optional)

Instructions:

Toast the Bread:

  • Toast the slices of bread until golden brown.
  • Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and slice the avocado flesh into thin, even slices.
  • Gently scoop the flesh out of the skin.

Assemble the Toast:

  • Lay the avocado slices evenly across the toasted bread. Optionally, drizzle with a little lemon juice for added flavor.

Season and Serve:

  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Some tips to ensure you always have fresh bread at home:

1. Freeze Bread:

Toasting Frozen Bread: Frozen bread can go straight into the toaster, or you can thaw it at room temperature for a few minutes.

Slice Before Freezing: If you buy or bake a loaf, slice it before freezing. This way, you can take out just what you need without defrosting the whole loaf.

2. Buy Long-Lasting Bread:

Sourdough: Sourdough bread has a longer shelf life due to its natural fermentation process.

Wrap Properly: Store bread in a paper bag or a bread box to keep the crust crunch< and the inside soft.
